Obituary of Betty J. Vanderburg

1940 – 2016 Betty Vanderburg, beloved wife of Herman for 52 years, entered the perfect joy of heaven on April 19, 2016 at the age of 76, at the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Betty (Huibertje Jacoba) was born on January 21, 1940, in Sneek, The Netherlands. She arrived in Toronto with her family in 1953. Betty and Herman were married in Toronto in 1963, where all of their children were born. In 1978, Betty moved to Calgary with the family. Betty dedicated her life to serving the Lord Jesus Christ through supporting and loving people with diverse personal struggles. She started Telecare Calgary and provided supportive counselling at Sonshine Centre for many years. Betty also served young single mothers at the Louise Dean Centre. She will always be remembered for her care, attentive listening and especially, the warm hugs. Betty is survived by her husband Herman; children Madelene, Roland (Loyda), Ian (Sharon), Geoffrey (Jennifer), Mark (Sarah), Marieka (Dan); and her cherished grandchildren Gabriel, Jessica, Arden, Mary, Chris, Max, Abbey, Cordelia, Sam, James, Georgia, Olivia, and Anthony. She is also survived by her dear siblings Frank (Ann), Cootje, and August (Harriette). Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at River Park Church (3818 14A St. S.W.
