Condolences
Dearest Beth and family. Doug was a wonderful man. Hard to say all that should be said . I remember when I asked him if I could shoot 1 handed…he said..I don’t know. .can you ? Won my class but will always be out classed by him. He’s with friends and family. .
Take care.

For the Harvey family,
I’m sorry to both be posting this so late. I just last week that I learned from a friend of Doug’s passing because of the tribute in the Sporting Clay’s shoot booklet.
Without a doubt, Doug was one of the finest human beings that I have ever met. Generous, interested, engaged and pretty much always with that kind of twinkle in his eyes which said, “what can we create here”, he was a wonderful shooter, instructor and really devoted family man.
I had the good fortune to meet Doug one New Year’s Day a few years ago at Silver Willows. I had gone up there to see if there was anyone to shoot with. Doug was trying to pull targets and shoot by himself and I offered to pull for him. He (in true Dough Harvey fashion) offered to have me shoot with him. I learned a lot that day as he gave me a spontaneous and improptu shooting lesson in Gill and Vicky Ash’s “Minimal Lead” method. It sure worked and I had a few more lessons later. Still use it to this day on the Sporting Clays and hunting fields. What a wonderful guy.
Someone in one of the earlier posts said, “there aren’t enough like him”, and I heartily concur.
I count myself very fortunate to have had the time and interactions I did with Doug.
Being his family, I can only imagine how hard a loss like this is. If there is any solace, please know that Doug touched a great many lives in some really wonderful ways and always made a difference where ever he went and whatever he was doing.
Gratefully,
Steven Tetterington
Our sincere condolences on Dougs passing. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Dear Beth and family,
I’ve only just read of Doug’s passing so please accept my late condolences. Doug and I met many years ago in the U.S. when I was creating 5-Stand Sporting and he offered me huge moral support with his enthusiasm that the game was Canadian, but unfortunately we didn’t really connect until recently. I thoroughly enjoyed our lunches and positive chats about our ideas for advancing the clay target shooting sports and we managed to be quite creative in that brief time. We both agreed on several occasions we could have done some great things together but now, sadly, the shooting world will never know. C’est la vie… It’s now my turn to continue where we left off. What a wonderful man, confidant and friend. He is missed greatly.
Sarah Beth,
I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of Doug. I remember both of you when I was married to Orval Henderson. I hope your happy memories of Doug will help to ease some of your pain.
May the Peace of Christ comfort you all during this most difficult time.
Dear Beth and Family
What a great man he was! Our Canadian ambassador to Clay shooting. A wonderful mentor to new shooters, and especially the young shooters. A fierce competitor too. I appreciated the opportunity to shoot and compete with him. Ken, Beth, you were such a wonderful support to Doug and all the shooters. Our condolences to you and all your family. We hope that our paths will cross again in the near future.
Debbie and Ken
Beth and Family,
Please accept our sincere condolences. Although we had only known Doug a short time it was as though we had known each other for ever. Doug was a great help to Al during the time they shared a room at RGH, even though their shooting disciplines were different, they found lots to talk about on the subject.
Sincerely,
Al & Sheila Russon
Dear Beth, Dean and Grant
Heart felt sympathy and deepest condolences from us all in England. From your visits to Hong Kong, to our many visits to your beautiful home and a lovely lunch here in Sussex not that long ago, we always looked forward to spending time with Doug, listening to his many stories of shooting success and of course, his pride for his entire family.
He was ever cheerful, hospitable and as interested in others achievements as much as his own.
We hope, despite your loss, 2016 brings you peace and tranquility.
“A MONOMANIAC WITH A MISSION”
His ‘Mission’…..to have as many people as possible enjoy the sport of ‘Sporting Clays’ and it’s camaraderie as much as he did !
Love……from the Squires family !
Beth, Grant & Dean,
On behalf of Bebelle I want to offer our most heartfelt condolences. Our thoughts are with you and we wish we could be there with you today.
There isn’t enough space here (or anywhere) to convey the influence Doug and his presence had in our lives. Together we cherish the experience of speeding behind Uncle Dean’s boat on Osoyoos Lake. A four year old Bebelle tethered to a trailing raft squealing with joy as it bounced across the boat’s wake. There was Doug, confident at the helm, skillfully navigating the waves, and my anxiety by reminding a nervous single dad “not worry Ty, she can handle it and so can you.” It took some time for those words to make their bigger-picture impact, but as usual he was right.
She could, she did and so did I.
Thank you for blessing us with his presence in our lives.
Tyler & Bebelle Harcott
Dear Beth and Family,
Our deepest condolences from our family. When the motor home showed up at a sporting clay event I never took Doug as a competitor, but rather as the General overseeing the master piece he created called the CNSCA. His dedication, support and generosity got all of us to where our sport is today. There is not enough thank you to express our recognition. Rest assure it will not be long before the Heavenly Sporting Clay Association is created. A cool glass of Bloomberg will have a new meaning for all of us from now on.

Beth –
Brian and I wish to express our deepest sympathy for Doug’s passing. A wonderful man who has touched so many lives. When we first came to Canada, you and Doug were one of the first to make us feel welcome in the shooting community and as visitors to Canada. He is very missed.
The Harvey family, my condolences and prayers of comfort go out to you. I will always remember Doug for his knowledge and guidance he has offered over the years. May the support of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Beth, Grant & Dean
Please accept my condolences on Doug’s passing. I would run into Doug talking to Dad (Roy) at Cactus or the Port O’Call. There were many laughs and stories of shooting, traveling and family. He was always proud when talking about the grandchildren.
Wishing your memories provide you peace and comfort in the days to come.
Sincerely,
Vaughn Hansen
Dear Beth and Family,
Sincere condolences at this sad time. I have many pleasant memories of shared activities dating back to the Thompson and Edmonton years.
Harvey Family,

Sending you our sincerest condolences.
Dear Beth, Dean, Grant and Family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy as you are going through this very difficult time. We knew that Doug had been sick for quite some time, but we are never ready for the end.
You always opened up your home and friendship to us for which we are thankful.
Dear Beth & Family: Words cannot express my sorrow as I learned of Doug’s passing.
As you know we were teenage friends in Swan River/Durban and I have many great memories of those years. Although we lost contact for some time I am so pleased we were able to re-connect during the past decade. I feel proud and blessed to have known Doug. It’s very apparent he touched many lives in many ways. I hope you can all find some peace in knowing how well loved he was by all who knew him. I am so grateful for our visit in Yuma this Spring and so pleased Doug was able to meet my husband Norm after so many years. Beth, please know that you’re in my thoughts and prayers. Doug was definitely one of the good guys. God bless.
With love & sympathy,
Ardelle (Byron) Murfitt
Beth & family,
Our deepest sympathy in the passing of Doug. Allan enjoyed shooting with Doug and sometimes against him. The shooting community will miss him. Sorry that we are unable to attend Doug’s funeral as we will be attending Allan’s cousins funeral the same day. Thinking of you and your family.
Sincerely,
Allan & Sheila Gehrke
Beth and family. They are sending our thoughts and prayers to you at this very difficult time. May it bring you strength.
Doug will be greatly missed. We will always remember Doug’s influence, generosity, encouragment and support. Doug shared his love of sporting clay shooting with Scott. That in turn was past on to his dad. Angie will always remember the day Doug gifted Gord with a private shooting lesson and left him with a smile that couldn’t be wiped from his face. He caught the sporting clay bug that day and that cemented his commitment to the sport. Doug’s love for sporting clay shooting sports continues to have a ripple effect here in Slave Lake. Thank you for sharing Doug with all of us.
Dear Beth & Family
Please accept our most heartfelt condolences. I personally had the utmost respect for Doug and will miss him at the upcoming shoots.
Your Friends,
Ed & Carol Bowman
Beth and Family.
My deepest sympathy and condolences on the loss of Doug. I rarely got to shoot with Doug (he was out of my league) but I enjoyed visiting with both him and you Beth, at the various shoots we attended. Doug did many great things for the sporting clay association and was very generous with his time and commitment to the shooting sports. He will be greatly missed by everyone. I am sorry that I cannot attend the service but my thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with you.
Sincerely,
Ivan Bitz.
Beth, my deepest sympathy and condolences. The few times we met were very special. It was always a pleasure to communicate with him about our love of Sporting and FITASC.
Dear Beth, Dexter and Harvey Family,
My heart is with you during this difficult time. Doug was generous with his time and knowledge as his heart went into everything he did. I had the opportunity to see it first hand numerous times and have no way of expressing my gratitude in words. Doug’s passion for sporting clays will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone that he crossed paths with. He made this world a better place and he will be greatly missed. The world today could use more just like him.
Sincerely,
Scott & Shelley Iverson
Dear Beth and family, our deepest sympathy for this very difficult loss. I am at a loss for the right words to describe what Doug has meant to myself and my family. I will forever remember the many times I got to shoot with Doug and the many time we got to hang out after the shoots as a family. His friendship to myself and the sporting clays world as well as his loyal participation at our club in grande prairie will be deeply missed. God Bless you all as we lay to rest a true gentleman and champion. We will miss him.
Dear Beth and Family, please accept our deepest condolences for your loss. Doug was a great and loyal member of our shooting family here for many years. Over the years he had given us a great deal of guidance that helped us make a world class club. He also praised our club across Canada and the world. All of the people he touched at our club will never forget him, your family and all of the great times. We for sure will never forget the motorhome with the awesome horn. God Bless.
Dearest Beth and family;
My upmost condolences to all of you. Thinking of all of you and all the times we had the opportunity to share a laugh, drink and meal with you two at many shoots around the area. Just do one day at a time and be strong. Love always
Terry Reynar
Beth, please accept our deepest sympathy and condolences. It is a sad time, but also a time full of memories and reflection of Doug. We knew him from the early years of sporting clays, as he was one of the first active participants who was always eager to help new and fellow shooters. The dedication of his time and service to the sport we love will be forever appreciated.
Sincerely,
Pat and Fred White
Beth, my heart goes out to you and your family. Please accept my condolences.
Beth and Family,
We are so saddened with the loss of Doug.
Who would have known that our chance meeting at the Seminole Cup would have led to the years of traveling and shooting together that would follow. I learned just when to make the decaf after dinner and what a serviette is. Whether we were shooting(shopping too), touring a Civil War Battlefield, eating crawdads for the first time, NOT finding the Chinese Burial ground in the rain, NOT eating Boudin, making emergency trips to the hospital, eating great BBQ, hurrying off before a flood, and a million other things, I know al of it was better just because we were with you two. When spring came and we parted ways, the planning, registering, and reserving for the next year began. It just all seemed so natural. The memories will be with us always. We love you and Doug and know that you will always be on our minds and in our hearts
Beth
Our heartfelt sympathy at this difficult time. We are thinking of you and wishing you peace and comfort as you remember Doug.

Beth & family
Please accept my condolences at this time of your great loss.
Doug was supportive of new shooters and the sport in general.
His encouragement was invaluable to developing shooters and just one example of his generous nature.
He was a great contributor, a consummate sportsman, ultimately courageous & always a gentleman.
I will miss him.
Best regards
Eric Mass
