Obituary of Lena Isabelle HOUSE

October 19, 1921 – Minden, Ontario October 11, 2015 – Okotoks, Alberta Lena House of Calgary, AB, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the age of 93 years. In Mom’s last days, she was often heard to say, to doctors and nurses, “The most important thing to me is that all of my family knows the Lord. That they follow Him”. Lena Pritchard was born on October 19th, 1921, in Minden Ontario. We, her children have been blessed to call her mom and will miss her, more than these words can convey. Lena was loved by many and expressed her love for others through giving, of her time and her talents. She liked to sew and knit and bake and cook and went out of her way to share her creations with those in her life, both friends and acquaintances. In 1949, Lena married Chesley House. A model pastor’s wife through hard times and good, mom willingly moved from one town to another as her beloved husband obeyed God’s call. The lessons we learned about kindness and mercy were a result of watching her live her life. When, in her mid life she needed to work outside her home for a few years, her talent for administration and organization shone. During that time she still managed to sew, her clothes and ours and to show kindness through hospitality. Later, as a widow, her generosity continued to bloom. When her health began to deteriorate 3 ½ years ago, she moved from Abbotsford and away from her beloved friends, to be closer to family. For the past year she has resided at Trinity Lodge, in Calgary. Mom enjoyed 10 months in her “little suite” until sickness forced her to the hospital. On October 6, she moved to Foothills Country Hospice Society in Okotoks, Alberta where she received exceptional care. At 5:30 P.M. on Sunday October 11th, 2015, with family at her side, she peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Saviour. Although we, her three children, Jan ( Michael) Deboski, Rod ( Robin) House and Pam (Rob) Staley), eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, will always miss her, she is finally, Home. Charm can be deceptive and beauty doesn’t last, but a woman who fears and reverences God shall be greatly praised.
