Condolences
Wendy’s and my sympathies go to Gloria and Barry’s family while my thoughts keep going back to those early years in Hillside when Barry, Ron and I did practically everything together. Later, Gerald, Bob and Moe joined our group. I could always count on Barry beating me in almost any sport we played. He was a natural athlete and enjoyed winning. In all of our activities I can’t recall a single argument. Our friendships made it a great place to grow up. Frank Patton
Dear Gloria, Matt, Jayne and Families,
We just wanted to share our thoughts with you on news of Barry’s passing and our fond memories of times spent with him at the rink and on the Island. He was a warm, caring, welcoming individual and our connection was immediate as it was all about family and those same values as we have. Our boys carry on some of the same traditions and we love reconnecting when sometimes we see Matt, Jayne and children ‘out on the pond!’ Hopefully, Gloria will join them one time. We hope memories will serve you well through these difficult times. Much Sympathy to all your family, Dave and Kathy Pearce
Barry and I both taught at Henry Wise Wood in the ’60’s and 70’s. We were like family in those days as we were all young and Barry was a little older and gave us his advice. Even with Barry being a social teacher and I in science we still talked at lunch hour and after school. I still use the glass patio doors that Barry gave in my greenhouse and often think of him when opening and shutting them. I am very sad for your family’s loss. Barry was a very nice person.
Barry Duncan was my Social Studies teacher in 1968 and 1969. I remember totally enjoying his classes, and we often talked about history and politics. I went on to get a Canadian History degree, and eventually an education degree, I’m sure partly because of his influence. I remember his intelligence, and great sense of humour. I’m sorry for your loss.
