Obituary of Wilfred Barry DUNCAN

October 3, 1934 – Calgary, AB August 31, 2015 – Calgary, AB Barry Duncan, late of High River passed away Monday August 31, 2015. Barry was born in Calgary and after retiring from his High School teaching career at Henry Wisewood and Lord Beaverbrook schools, he and his wife spent fourteen years on Vancouver Island golfing and camping. He had a passion for politics and all sports which included his favourite teams the Flames and Stampeders. Barry was a caring husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years Gloria (nee Belous), son Matthew (Jayne) Duncan, daughter Leah (Ross) Spurway, five grandchildren, Holly, Brooke, Quinn, Asha and Landen, his sister Cleone Duncan and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Dr. Wilfred Duncan, mother Pearl Duncan and brother Dr. Ralph Duncan. There will be an informal open house memorial at West Hillhurst Community Centre, Monday, September 7, from 2-4 PM (1940 – 6th Ave NW, Calgary (upstairs, The Barn). A family graveside service will take place at Union Cemetery as per Barry’s wishes. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Kidney Foundation or charity of choice would be appreciated.
