Obituary of Frank CRAWLER
December 19, 1930 – Morley, Alberta
August 9, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta
Frank Crawler, was called home by our Creator on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the age of 75 years.
Frank was a descendant of grandfather George Crawler who signed Treaty 7 in 1877. He was band councillor for the Chiniki Band for over seventeen years. Frank participated in the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede as a Tipi holder for many years and also enjoyed going to the Banff Indian Days. He also participated in rodeo with his twin brother Lou in calf roping and team roping. He was a rancher and farmer who owned cattle and horses. Frank was chairman of Morley United Church for twelve years. He was dedicated to the church, community and family. He was actively involved in the Indian Ecumenical Conference, hunting and providing for the people. Frank was a very kind hearted person and helped people as much as he could. He was a great mentor, teacher and leader for his grandchildren and family.
Frank is survived by his loving wife Glenda of 50 years; two children, Tyrone (Sabrina) Crawler and Trudy Wesley; adopted daughter Melanie Snow (Bryce); grandchildren, Trandy (Allison), Natasha, Ty (Naomi), Tanisha, BreeAna (Brooker), Tanner; and great-grandchildren, Shelby and Nate; brother Lou Crawler; sisters, Lorna (Dave) Bearspaw, Rosemarie Smith (Stan), Delphine Rider, and Lenora Crawler; and extended relatives in the Chiniquay and Mark families.
He was predeceased by great-grandfather, Chief Hector Crawler; grandfather, Councillor George Crawler; father, Lou Crawler Sr.; mother Sarah Beaver; son Cordy Crawler; son-in-law Ivan Wesley great-grandson Tyvin Crawler; and great-granddaughter Autumn Ella Pretty Young Man, step brothers and step sister, Chester, Clarence and Patricia Rider; aunts, Alma Crawler and Annie Crawler; and Georgina Crawler Tym.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Glenda Crawler (Morley, AB) on Wednesday, August 12 and Thursday, August 13, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at Morley United Church on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Chiniki Cemetery.
