Condolences
Dear Ellen,
I was sad to see your Mom's obituary, but what a wonderful tribute to a life well lived. I always looked forward to our "visits" during her annual eye examination, and her intelligent questions based on her nursing background.
My thoughts are with you,
Dr Laurie Dodds
I can't remember the first time my Aunt Helen and I got together; it might have been close to 84 years ago, but it was a fair distance back. This wee woman has been in my life for a long time, and while our paths haven't crossed all that often, she has been part of my life and I will miss her (and there will be lots to miss). In no particular order, she leaves behind her enthusiasm, her giggles, her pies, her dances, her inquisitiveness, her bounce, her skills, her work ethic, her energy and her love.
Onner and I, as well as our family, say goodbye with sadness and extend to our cousin Ellen and others, our very real sympathies.

We well remember our first visit with Helen, the fact that she knew my Mother, Meta Bertschy, was very interesting. They grew up in the same area. Helen will be remembered for her love of gardening, nursing and dancing. The family will have lots of good memories.
Ellen we send you our heart felt sympathies.

Helen moved with Ellen soon after we moved into our home, next door to Ellen and Helen. My first memories are of her on a ladder washing windows, Helen at that point being in her 90's. She ensured the lawn never had dandelions to mar its surface, kept the gardens weeded and tended. She had a great sense of humour, keeping us on our toes with retorts. We miss her positive attitude and warm, smiling face.

Our heart felt sympathies to Ellen .
When we moved to Milo in 2007 , Helen was the first person we met .
Bob & Helen spent a lot of time cleaning up the raspberry patch in the community garden .
We became great friends . Even danced as she was a wonderful dancer .
Helen did like to play tricks on Bob .
Played cards as Bob's partner & they generally beat Ellen & I as hard as we tried .
We'll always have happy memories of our dear friend Helen .
We will miss her

I remember Auntie Helen for many different things. Long ago visits to the farm during my childhood, then throughout my adult life. , Her sense of humour was quirky. The last time I visited with her, last summer, she asked me why I was the only one at the table without grey hair. I had to confess that it was through the miracle of chemicals. She just gave me a little smile. And later did a little jig, so I can confirm her long-time dancing skills. And she did make great pies. We all miss her, but remember her fondly, for a well-lived life, something the rest of us can hope for.
