Hi Debbie. I was so sorry to hear about Derril's passing. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was complementing him on his snazzy socks before I went in for dialysis. Little did I know that that would be the last conversation I would have with him. I did not get to know him well but know he will be missed in the mornings. I would have liked to attend his service but Jayne and I are in total lock down so it is not possible. My thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
Jim (from dialysis).
Dear Debbie, Jodi, Les and Family;
I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, father and grandfather.
I didn't know he was ill.
Debbie; I don't know if you remember me but Derril brought you to my
brother's 80th birthday in March 2013.
It was a pleasure to meet you.
You and Derril looked so happy together.
I will always remember Derril trying to sell me a vehicle.
I didn't need a vehicle; at the time; until many years later.
I am so sorry of your loss. You have my sincere sympathy.
Lots of Love Madeline Kunsch
Our sincere sympathy to Debbie and all Derril’s family in the loss of a good friend. Always a chuckle with Derril, we had many good times and much laughter when we were together. So blessed for his extra 16 years. God’s blessings to all. Hugs, Chuck and Grace Haughton
Leslie & Family,
Much love being sent your way from Ontario. All the best as you support one another during this challenging time. Leslie, your father was lucky to have you for a Son and no doubt grateful you were always there for him during his 16 year journey post-transplant.
Sincerely & all our love Burton Family,
Shannon & Ava xxoo.
Thinking of you Deb and wishing you peace at this time. I have interesting memories of assisting Derril with exercises. My car was never so clean even when it was new after you two spent some time with it.
Beryl
Les, family and friends of Derril...I am sending condolences, thoughts and prayers to you. Take care.
Dear Debbie, Les and Jody,
Roger and I are so sorry for your loss. Our thought are with you.
Uncle Derril always took the time to give us a call to see how we were doing. He made that effort with many of his relatives!
In fact, he and Debbie even drove all the way to Slave Lake to visit us in their ultra light trailer that was his “ newest” of many yet to come purchases! He liked his “toys”!
One of my favourite memories was to do with one of his older cars that he restored. I can’t remember the make and model? It was a light mint green colour. Anyways, we were at a family function, I think maybe an anniversary party for Nana and Papa. Uncle Derril was proudly showing everybody his work! Heck, he even showed the paint job in the trunk! As soon as Uncle Derril was out of sight, my Dad- Doug Southwood laid across the good and had Cousin Cherily’s husband, Reid take a photo!
My Dad loved to antagonize Uncle Derril- all in fun! Nobody breathed a word about the photo op! Who would dare?!
I don’t believe he found out about until the photo was immortalized in an enlarged copy and put into a frame! We all got a chuckle over this because if Uncle Derril had of seen my Dad lying on the hood of his beloved car the “ **** would have hit the fan! Uncle Derril LOVED his cars.
Another memory at Darla,a wedding. I joking asked to drive his Corvette and he handed the keys over to me! I couldn’t believe it! So I grabbed Les and off we went to go buy ice. We had too much fun!
I will miss you Uncle Derril!
Love, your niece
Jacki and Roger❤️
