CHAPUT, Frances Helen (nee Laplante)

June 7, 1950 – Montreal, Quebec

October 2, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

 

Frances Helen Chaput of Calgary, AB, passed away, surrounded by family on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the age of 71 years.

 

Frances was born in Montreal, Quebec on June 7, 1950 to parents, Henry and Theresa Laplante. She was the eldest of five daughters. She first met and married Yve Roy, a union that brought about two children then, subsequent their divorce, she met and married James Chaput in the 1970s and together they had two more children.

 

Frances and her family moved to Calgary, AB sometime in the 1970s. She was an extremely hard worker, always ensuring that she provide for her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who worked all day, came home to prepare dinner and ensured that homework was done. Frances was always the last one to bed and the first to wake. She did everything she could to make her family feel loved, protected and cherished. Her greatest achievement was her family and owning her own house. Frances, Fran, Frank the Tank, Sandy will be most remembered for her laugh, dirty mind and jokes.

 

Frances enjoyed being with her family most of all. She loved going to the mountains and watching movies, having holiday dinners and heart to heart conversations.  Some of her most cherished memories were in the mountains camping with family.

 

Frances is survived by her three daughters, Dannielle and Veronica (Jamie) of Calgary, Sylvia (Martin) of Montreal; son, David Roy of Edmonton; ex-husband, James of Calgary; grandchildren, Brooklynn, Sarah, Justin, Kaitlyn, Dyllan, Ella, Lenord and Brianna. Frances is also survived by her fours sisters, Irene, Susan, Laura and Mary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

Frances was predeceased by her parents Henry and Theresa Laplante and son-in-law, Daniel.

 

“The first thing that I’m gonna do is spread my wings and fly, I’m gonna land beside a lion and run my fingers through its mane. Or I might find out what it is like to ride a drop of rain.”
