If you are reading this, I am already gone! Jerry Joynt has a 63-year history in the many varied public relations, sports marketing, and communications functions. A highlight of his career was his time spent as Senior Vice President, Communications for the 1988 XV Olympic Winter Games in Calgary.  When he signed his contract with OCO he suggested that he would be traveling a lot   and so asked that his wife go with him, what a great time we had.

With the XV Olympic Winter Games Organizing Committee, [OCO 88] Jerry was a member of the Executive Management Team, responsible for the Culture, Media, and Public Relations Divisions. He was also a member of the International Olympic Committee Press Commission, a role he continued through to 1991 at the specific request of then IOC, President, Juan Antonio Samaranch. The idea of lighting the Tower was a dream by Gene Zadvornay Canadian Western Natural Gas, and Jerry. “The Dream Came True”

Since Joynt Corporate Communications was formed in 1993, senior consulting roles have been successfully executed for Stone Creek Resorts, James Hoggan and Associates (Vancouver 2010 Olympics), Grande Cache Coal Corporation, Travel Alberta International, Alberta Economic Development Department, FWJ Advertising and Public Relations, CanaDream Vacations, Travel Alberta, The Calgary Chamber of Commerce, Grey Cup 1993 and the Trans Canada Trail Foundation.

He is a recipient of Alberta and Saskatchewan Achievement Awards and the Canada 125 Commemorative Medal.

He spent his early years living with his parents their farm, just NE of Rouleau, [Corner Gas, Dog River]. He and his brother rode horseback to their country school for eight years.

Cars were his life, the Regina Road Knights were very important to a few guys, that have remained lifelong friends.  The tradition of reading the Night Before Christmas is a legacy in our family, beginning in 1965 and lasted all the long years our kids and grandsons, and friends took time to listen and laugh at his story telling.

Camping began in 1958 and was another family activity that was carried on throughout our 60 years. 1974 we packed up and drove from Regina to PEI hauling our little trailer with the bikes on top, 7500 miles!!!

We also had snow mobiles that we enjoyed, with our trips to West Yellowstone to get some real snow. He held season tickets to football for more than 60 years and was a member of the YMCA for the same time, with his 5:30 am workout and the noon hour 5 mile run he was in top physical condition. His favourite spot to camp was in the mountains, and Maui where the holidays were spent for many years.  These are the things he missed most of all. His true love was smoking a corn cob pipe or a cigar, surrounded by the ones he loved, be it at the base of Evans Thomas in the Kananaskis or on the beach at Napli Bay. We know that is where he sits with his lost loves now. An amazing life, for an amazing man. Ever missed Ever loved.

Jared leaves behind his wife of 62 years Janice E. Tillotson; two children Timothy C. Joynt (Cynthia Joynt), and Kim S.
