Condolences
Janice and I got to know each other through the cancer community. We both took the Yoga Thrive program which was developed for cancer patients and cancer survivors. We were survivors! Our friendship grew over the years.
I have many wonderful memories of Janice.... her laughter, her smile, her caring and giving heart. Even though she had her own health struggles, she was always ready to help someone else out in their time of need. That's just who she was.
She will be truly missed but carried in our hearts forever.
My sincerest condolences to Doreen and Janice's entire family. The bright light that used to shine beside us, will now shine above us. May God wrap his loving arms around each and everyone that grieves the loss of Janice and give us peace. An Angel has been born.
I met Janice in 2008, and had the pleasure of being her Yoga Thrive instructor for several years. She was such a bright light in our classes, always a positive outlook. I have so many memories of Janice but some of my favorites are her showing up at my daughter’s 6th or 7th birthday party, just to acknowledge that Maddie was making donations to Wellspring in lieu of gifts. She always asked about my kids and knew so much about them and their activities.
After we were no longer practicing yoga together, we recognized that we had a wonderful friendship despite a couple decades between us. We’d gather in our little group of 4, each year to acknowledge each our birthdays with dinners at so many different restaurants and also Christmas brunch. It was the best tradition and lasted many years, until Covid. Then our visits turned to phone calls and FaceTimes. My favorite part of Janice was her readily available, great big laugh. She was so tiny but had the most wonderful laugh. I’ll miss you Janice. Love to all your family that you spoke so highly of.
Love Tyla, Darryl, Maddie & Grayson
Janice and I became friends later in our lives and we were so lucky to be introduced by Jo Claire Dunsmore. Jo Claire and Janice and I shared many lunches and belly laughs over the years. I will miss our intense political discussions and agree-to-disagree moments. Janice had such a lively and active mind and she was a truly loyal friend to both Jo and I. We have missed her and our lunches together, not to mention her brown sugar pound cake! Condolences on your loss.
Dear Doreen,
I was sorry to learn of your sister Janice's passing.
From her obituary, it sounds as though Janice was definitely a kind person dedicated to helping others.
I checked my 1963 SMG yearbook thinking that I might find a photo of Janice in Grade 10 when you and I were in Gr. 12, but no luck.
May memories of joyful events which you shared with Janice over many years be of some comfort at this sorrowful time.
Thinking of you.
Lee Hunt (SMG Class of 63)
My condolences to Janice’s family. She and I worked together at RSA in Calgary in the late 70’s and early 80’s. She was so respected for her knowledge and professionalism and willingly shared her knowledge with others. I was privileged to call her a friend and looked forward to receiving her annual Christmas cards and brief catch up. You will all miss her but will have great memories to hold on to.
