Obituary of Robert Neil Waddell

June 2, 1947 – Claresholm, Alberta

Robert “Bob” Waddell of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the age of 76 years in the comfort of his home.

He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Gladys, and his brother Don. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Mavis, his two sons, Trevor (Neva) and Jaret (Nicole); and Grumps’ four grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah, Pheora, and Kiri. He also leaves behind his brothers, Perry (Sharel), Dale, Cliff (Lorraine); sisters, Linda (Darell) Tricia, Kathy; sister-in-law Norma, as well as many members of his extended Waddell, Kole, and Codling families.

Bob was born June 2, 1947, in Claresholm and grew up on a farm near there. He was an accountant by profession, FCPA, FCMA. His profession led him to work in BC, AB, and SK, and finally back to Calgary. He was highly respected and esteemed in both the accounting and business world wherever he travelled. The list of his accomplishments in both his profession and the organizations he volunteered at is lengthy.

He was a golfer, curler, motorcyclist, baseball umpire, and pipe smoker. He found pleasure in them all. However, his greatest pleasure was family and friends. He never let any of them forget who he was and that it was time to gather again or at the very least, chat.

Of all the wonderful characteristics that made Bob who he was, the most memorable was his ability to make people laugh. His amazing sense of humor popped up at just the right time (Although, there may have been times in his youth his parents did not appreciate his humor!). He was able through his humor to turn any tense, awkward, or just-because situation into a moment of laughter. His kind heart, gentle spirit, and calming disposition made him a joy to be around.

Beloved Bob, Husband, Dad, and Grumps, we will so miss you and we carry you with us wherever we go. Thank you for the years, the fun, and laughter.
