Obituary of Barbara Ann Medwid

Barbara Ann Medwid of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the age of 67 years old.

Barbara was born in Scarborough, ON, on March 8, 1957, and later settled in Calgary. She was a remarkable, beautiful, confident, mother of two. Barbara had a heart of gold with the determination and strength of a warrior.

She enjoyed daily walks in Fish Creek Park with family, neighbors, and friends. She would pick the most beautiful, perfect rocks, in and around the mountains for her grandchildren to paint. Cooking was her passion; Barbara was always ready to share or teach a recipe. Using her handwritten notes, the dishes always seemed to taste better. Her desserts were the most succulent. At family get-togethers, there was always ‘belly’ laughter. She will be most remembered for her impeccable gardening skills and teaching abilities. Barbara enjoyed the opportunity to just hang out with her best friends, and family, by a roaring fire, with the BBQ in the background.

She is survived by her daughter Michelle, son Jason, and his fiancé Jaqueline. Barbara has two loving grandchildren, Brett and Ashley Medwid, whom she cherished deeply and spoke of often. Barbara is also survived by her sisters, Dale, Carol, Debbie, and brother Richard. She was predeceased by her brother David.

She was a loving sweetheart who will be missed dearly by all.
