Obituary of Bryan Singleton

December 26, 1950 - North Bay, Ontario

May 16, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Bryan Singleton, husband, father, and brother, on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the age of 73.

Bryan passed away peacefully in Calgary at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre with his family by his side. Bryan, and his twin brother Barry, were born in North Bay, Ontario, and raised in Callander, along with older brothers, Lyal and Wayne.

While working on his mechanical engineering degree at the University of Western Ontario in 1972, he and his twin brother seized the opportunity to enter into the pipeline industry. In 1976, Bryan moved to Calgary to pursue his pipeline career and in 1979, along with Barry, formed Singleton Associated Engineering Ltd. For the next 45 years, Bryan was instrumental in leading the company to become one of the most respected and successful pipeline engineering and project management firms in North America. One of his proudest moments was the successful completion of the Alliance Pipeline Project, over 2,300 km of pipeline that was constructed in B.C., Alberta, and Saskatchewan, in 1999 and 2000. Bryan was a respected professional engineer and pipeliner and was admired by everyone who met him. He will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty and commitment to always getting the job done.

When Bryan wasn’t busy running the company business, you could find him working on a home or chalet renovation project, with the utmost attention to every minute detail, or racing around the track in his bright red Dodge Viper SRT-10 at breakneck speed with a huge smile on his face. Bryan was extremely generous in every way you can imagine. We are going to miss his contagious smile, sense of humour, quick “one-liners” and even his occasional sarcasm, which you only ever received if he actually liked you. Bryan had a zest for life and was always living it to the fullest.

Bryan is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn; sons, Derek and Kevin; and brothers, Barry (Regina) and Wayne (Maureen). Bryan will also be missed by a host of extended family and friends. We have all been blessed to have had Bryan in our lives. Bryan was predeceased by his parents, George and Lyla Singleton; and his older brother and sister-in-law, Lyal and Jean Singleton.

A Celebration of Bryan’s Life will be held at a later date.
