Obituary of Margaret Roberta James

Margaret Roberta James (nee Hutchinson) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, after a short battle with cancer.

Margaret, known to those close to her as Bobbie, was born in Montreal, QC, on October 31, 1945, where she lived with her parents and sister.

In her early adult years, she was a nanny for a family, but her love of jewelry led Margaret to work at Birks jewelry store before marrying her husband, David, in 1969. She then devoted her time and energy to family life, caring for her husband and their two children, April and Peter. Margaret's generous nature led her to open her heart and home to many friends and honorary children. All were welcome at David and Margaret's table.

Margaret had a love for opera music and enjoyed going to the theatre, but nothing surpassed her love for her family and friends. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and her infectious laugh, and legendary pickled beets will be missed by many family and friends at Christmas.

Margaret leaves to mourn her daughter and son-in-law, April and Ryan Jameson, who will deeply feel her absence, her son Peter James of Montreal, as well as her grandchildren, Dylan, Brooke, Kristopher, Brittany, and Amber. She will be missed by her many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. She was also loved and will be missed by her many honourary children and grandchildren.

Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, David, her parents, Robert and Doris (nee Haley), and her sister Lorna.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
