Condolences
John and I grew up together in Congress. We were in the same grade all the way thru to Grade 12.
He sat behind me in HighSchool so we had lots ot time to have fun and for him to have fun teasing me.
If I ever has a question re my math he always knew the answer and always willingly helped
I know that you will have many great memories of John and they will help fill your emptyness
Darlene and family: I'm so sorry to learn of John's passing. I attended the Celebration of Life for Daryl and had hoped to see you when I learned about it. Although the memories of John are not plentiful, they will always be in my mind, especially sitting around the Strayer table over a pot of tea and settling all the world's problem. My deepest sympathy to you. Jeanne (Nightingale) and Ken Hunter.
Deepest sympathy to all of John’s family .I have many fond memories of growing up in Congress along with John. Bateson store was most popular place in town and John ‘s family were very community minded people.RIP John

Dennis and I were so sorry and sad to hear of John’s passing. We have such good memories of you, Darlene, and John when we were neighbours. I can picture John’s beautiful smile and his happy demeanour. It just felt good to be around him. He was an all around good person, always ready to help anyone who needed help. His creative woodworking skills amazed us and he always had some project on the go. Darlene, we send you a big hug and our condolences. Terry and Dennis

Dear Darlene and family
Although, unfortunately, I hadn't had the good fortune of knowing John for a lengthy time, having met him only a few years ago as a consequence of my being a neighbour to Wendy and James, I found immediately that John was one of those rare individuals that anyone would take an instant liking to. I certainly did. My chats with John while he was house caring when Wendy and James were away remain as very memorable moments for me and times that I looked forward to. I wish that I had had the opportunity to know John better and enjoy the company of a warm. wonderful human being.
My sincerest condolences,
Roman Pachovsky

Sending condolences Darlene, you and John were on Coco and my cookie list at Grace Lutheran in West Kelowna. You two were always so gracious in helping on our Sundays. God’s blessing to you and the family. Love from Coco and I.
Sincerely, Fran Schmidt.
Darlene and family
Sending our love, sympathy and prayers at this time.
We considered John a very dear and close friend. We first met John when we relocated to Kelowna fifteen years ago. As newly transplanted prairie people, we were immediately attracted to this energetic gentleman dressed in his green Rider jersey. From that moment on, our friendship grew quickly and remained strong even after your move to Calgary.
We have so many memories of the good times and laughs we shared ….
John's ringing the bell for Leisure Village social committee meetings; the card games with Reg and Merle with plenty of “ribbing”; being instructed how to correctly cook corn on the cob, John was right.
We share in your sorrow and will miss John.
Love and hugs
Ron & Gloria
And be sure of this: I am with you always even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20
Dear Darlene and family,
We were beyond saddened and shocked to just read of Johns passing . John was a wonderful husband, dad , grandpa, friend and neighbor . He was so full of life with always a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. We always knew we left our house in great hands in all the years he so kindly looked after our place during the winter months. Jack loved to visit with John on the street and at all our social functions in River Run . Of course we bonded so well with you and John as fellow Saskatchewan born transplants to BC. Jack loved cheering with John for the Roughriders and both were often decked out in Rider gear. The good Lord took home an awesome guy and know how much he will be missed by you, the kids and all his friends .
We will watch Johns Memorial on line as we will be at Christina Lake on Thurs .
Lots of love and big hugs.
Sherry and Jack
Ps : I had hoped to attach a few pics but don’t think there is a place to do this so I’ll email them to you.
To John’s family,
Death and grief are so hard especially the first year but our Great God of comfort (2Cor 1:3) has sent his son to show us He will remember our loved ones, just like when Christ remembered Lazarus and resurrected him back to life on earth. (John 11) Christ assured us of this promise at John 5:28,29! May these passages help you to endure with hope! With my deepest sympathy.
