Obituary of Leona Janet Mullen
July 12, 1934 – Didsbury, Alberta
June 21, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Leona Mullen (nee Blain), beloved wife of Roland Mullen, passed away at home with Roland and family by her side on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the age of 89 years.
Leona, along with Roland, were the founders of Mullen Trucking. Over the years she became friends with many of the employees and enjoyed watching the success and growth of the company.
Leona did a lot of travelling and she and Roland settled down and spent their winters at their home in Palm Springs, CA, and their summers at their home in De Winton.
She was a fabulous cook and baker and all the kids, young and old, always enjoyed the cookies and treats at her house. She loved card games and taught the grandkids at an early age how to play. She would NEVER let them win without a good match!!
Leona is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Roland Mullen, and her four sons and three daughters-in-law, Murray and Susan, Bruce, David and Lynda, and Kevin and Cheryl; as well as her grandchildren whom she dearly loved and was extremely proud of, Nicole and Shannon, Brandon and Caitlyn, Ashley, and Kyle and Kendra. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Wells, Sophie, and Shepherd.
She was predeceased by her mom and stepfather, Jessie and Bill Snyder, sister Donna Stuve, and her daughter-in-law Charlene Mullen.
