Condolences
Dear Hilda and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences for Dick’s loss. I first met Dick when I worked in Sarnia Refinery from 1972 – 75. Then I worked in his group in Calgary from 1978-82 on the Cold Lake Mega Project. What a great boss he was! No politics with Dick running the show. In 1981, my wife Micheline, who passed away from Lymphoma in 2012, and children Christine & Mark, had the great pleasure of looking after Mandy while your family was in Seattle with Brian. The kids loved that dog and we took her everywhere with us. Mandy was the major reason why we got a dog of our own the next year! I worked with Stephen at Imperial in the mid-nineties and still see him occasionally in the Crowfoot Co-op. I retired early at 55 in 2002. I’m very happy that I did, as it turns out, because it gave Micheline and I ten years of travelling to Europe, spending 4+ months every summer at our Lake cottage in New Brunswick and, most of all, spending a lot of time with our 4 grand kids before Micheline passed. I’m very happy that Dick had a good long retirement with his family and was able to spend a lot of time at his hobbies. All my best wishes for the future.
Condolences to your family from all of ours. I remember your dad’s sense of humour, especially with a household of women! I have many memories of your dad but one that has always touched me is that Baxter one of your puppies, that I was fortunate enough to have come live with me, just loved your dad. Every time he went over to the house he would jump up next to him. The last time Bax saw your dad he made an effort to walk over to him (as Bax was not too well) just as your dad was leaving the house, to say goodbye, as if he knew this would be the last time he saw Dick. So I like to believe that he is in grand company with all the puppies and having a gin and tonic with my dad! Your dad was always a true gentleman and will be missed.
Dear Hilda & family

My condolences on your loss.
I enjoyed working with Dick at Imperial Oil so many years ago.
